HOW TO MEASURE (Standard Products)

Determining the amount of window film needed to cover your windows is not as difficult as one would imagine. Just follow these straightforward steps to easily measure your windows and determine the quantity needed.

MEASURING YOUR GLASS

Note: Measure width in INCHES and length in FEET (divide number of inches by 12 to convert to feet.)

  1. Measure only glass area of window, not entire window frame.
  2. First measure your glass from left to right in INCHES. This is your required width. (This width corresponds with the "Roll Width" listed on each product page.)
  3. Then Measure your glass from top to bottom in FEET. This will be your required length. (This length corresponds with "Total Length (Feet)" on each product page.)
  4. Be sure to write these measurements down. We suggest adding 1 inch in each direction to your measurements. This allows room for error and cutting during your installation. The slight overlap will allow you to carefully cut the film to the edge of your glass, custom fitting your window.
  5. Repeat measuring for each window.
  6. Add together the lengths for all of your windows to come up with Total Length of film required in FEET.

ORDERING YOUR WINDOW FILM

  1. Navigate to the page of the desired film. Select the width in INCHES that best fits your windows as determined by the previous steps.
  2. Your Total Length measurement (length of all windows combined in FEET) equals the quantity needed in feet of your chosen film. Ships as one continuous roll

Consider: Most of our patterned styles can be turned 90 degrees to better fit your windows. If you have 3 windows, each 22" wide by 35" long, you can purchase 6 feet of 36" wide film. Then simply rotate the film to fit your windows. This will give you a piece of film that is 24" wide by 36" long for each window.

HOW TO MEASURE (Gradient Films)

Determining the amount of Gradient film needed to cover your windows is not as difficult as one would imagine. Just follow these straightforward steps to easily measure your windows and determine the quantity needed.

MEASURING YOUR GLASS

Note: Measure width in INCHES and length in FEET (divide number of inches by 12 to convert to feet.)

  1. Measure only the glass area of the window, not the entire window frame.
  2. First measure your glass from top to bottom. This is your required Height. (This Height corresponds with the "Roll Height" listed on each product page.)
  3. Then measure your glass from left to right. This will be your required Length. (This Length corresponds with the "Total Length (feet)" field on each product page.)
  4. Be sure to write these measurements down. We suggest adding 1 inch in each direction to your measurements. This allows room for error and cutting during your installation. The slight overlap will allow you to carefully cut the film to the edge of your glass, custom fitting your window.
  5. Add together lengths for all of your windows to come up with the Total Length of film required.

ORDERING YOUR WINDOW FILM

  1. Navigate to the page of the desired film. Select the Roll Height that best fits your windows as determined by the previous steps.
  2. Your Total Length measurement (length of all windows combined) equals the quantity needed in feet of your chosen film. Ships as one continuous roll.

Installation Instructions

With proper preparation and installation, Decorative Films are a fast and easy way to transform a room. To ensure a successful installation and to qualify for our warranty policy, please follow the installation instructions provided with every shipped order.

Abbreviated installation instructions are outlined below. For detailed installation instructions, please visit our installation instructions page at www.decfilmdealer.com/installation-instructions

Before you get started..

  1. Make a Workspace
  2. You will need enough flat surface to lay out the film for measuring, cutting, marking and prep. Do not run a fan near the film or glass surface during installation.
  3. Make a wetting solution
  4. Make a wetting solution by adding 8-10 drops of a mild, non-moisturizing dish detergent (Dawn or Joy; do not use hand soap) to a 32-oz. spray bottle filled with clean water. More soap may be needed when applying film to acrylic surfaces. Mix well.
    3. Make sure its smooth
Ensure the surface is completely clean and smooth before installation. Use a glass-safe scrub pad as needed to remove debris.

Installation Instructions

Instructions may vary depending on the film's base material. Please visit our installation instructions page at www.decfilmdealer.com/installation-instructions

Installation generally involves six steps:

  1. Measure and Cut
  2. Cut film with an inch overhang on both sides - this is trimmed after installation to ensure full coverage.
  3. Clean & Prep Surface
  4. Ensure a clean prep surface and that no debris is left on the installation surface.
  5. Peel Liner
  6. Slowly peel back the liner, wetting the back of the film very thoroughly as you peel down.
  7. Get it Wet
  8. Thoroughly spray and soak the glass surface AND the back of the film with the water mixture.
  9. Apply and Smooth
  10. Place the film on the wet surface, keeping the top edge level, allowing overhang on the edges of the frame. Position film as needed, then wet the outside of the film and run a squeegee along the surface to press it into the glass. Squeegee from the center moving out, pushing bubbles and excess water out as you go.
  11. Trim and Finish
  12. In one smooth, continuous motion, trim the excess film from the edges using a hard card and a razor knife. The film will completely dry and fully cling to the surface within a few days.
